The year 1977 was a period of profound transformations in my life. I had completed my Masters in history and was just getting interested in politics, when I underwent an epiphany upon reading Tolkien’s books The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Actually, when I was in the Army, a friend of mine, Bill West was lying on his bunk reading The Hobbit. I asked him what a Hobbit was and when he explained they were a race of short people with hair on their feet, I shook my head and walked away, convince Bill was wasting his time reading about such nonsense. It was wasn't until I got out of the Army and was working for Barnes & Nobles in NYC that Tolkien's The Silmarillion was published posthumously in September 1977. The store was located on 5th Ave in Manhattan, in Rockefeller Center. As soon as the book was released that summer the store filled up with people clamoring to purchase The Silmarillion. Every day the store was packed with people purchasing the The Silmarillion, but the store was also filled with various editions of Tolkien's other books. That's when I notice a large coffee table book edition of The Hobbit. I was attracted to the artwork that illustrated the book and bought it. I eventually began reading the book and fell in love with Tolkien. Needless to say, I purchased a paperback edition of The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings as well as the hardcover edition of The Silmarillion. It was through my love of Tolkien and the world he created that I first developed my interest in mythology, folklore and the Runes. By the way, in 1977 there was a second event (or perhaps a first event) that fed my love of Myths and folklore, and that was the movie Star Wars.
In May 1977, Star Wars appeared in the movies. The movie played all that summer, and I must admit I was completely unaware that it even existed. During the summer of 1977, the people I worked with in Barnes & Nobles, as well as my fellow students in college, were greeting each other with the salutation, May the Force be with you. Finally, I asked the girl I was dating at the time, "What the hell is the Force?" This was at the end of July. She could not believe that I never saw Star Wars, and she convinced me to go and see the movie. I have to admit I was blown away by George Lucas' space opera. I immediately noticed elements of the Arthurian legends as well as elements of legends of the American West in Star Wars. But I was especially taken with his exploration of the Force. I had read in my studies about chi, karma, and other cultural explanations of a life force and so I found Lucas' description of the Force fascinating.
I worked for Barnes & Nobles from 1976 to 1981, and it was during the last three months of 1980 that I first met Bob Zoller. He was hired as additional help for the Christmas season. We met and immediately became friends. I discovered that Zoller was an astrologer and he taught be about astrology and how to do charts. He also introduced me to other occult disciplines. Bob was six years older than me, and I considered him one of the most intelligent persons I ever met. We spend the next four years talking about every subject under the sun. We often spent the entire day working throughout Manhattan absorbed in our conversations.
It was at the end of 1977 that began I working on my own book, The New Earth Odyssey. It started out as an idea for a short story and then possibly a children's illustrated book. I purchased several blank stretch books and began drawing a story line. Before I realized what was happening it grew into an epic of over twelve hundred pages and took nine years to complete. Writing the book helped me with my new interest in Myths in general and the Runes in particular. Little did I realize at the time that these interests would eventually lay the foundation of a curiosity that would lead me to the religion of Asatru and Germanic Magic.
Then in 1984 my friend Robert Zoller asked me to join his Norse study group. He gave everyone who joined his group a copy of Edred Thorsson's book Futhark. Besides Tolkien's set of Runes the only material on Runes I read was Ralph Blum's The Book of Runes. I have to admit in my own defense that I bought his book because it came with a set of Porcelain Runes. It was and still is a terrible book. He mixed the order of the Runes and used them as substitute symbols for Chinese chi. It was my first introduction of the infamous "Blank Rune." I found it interesting that just when I purchased Blum's book Zoller gave me Thorsson's book. While I had an interest in mythology and folklore, up to now it had always been just of academic nature or as a subject for my attempt to write my own Tolkienist saga. I agreed to join Zoller’s group out of scholarly interest, but it would soon result in another epiphany.
Zoller was an astrologer with a growing world reputation. He had joined Edred Thorsson’s Rune Gild, and it was Thorsson’s teachings that our little group revolved around. We met every other Friday night, studying the Eddas and the Runes, meditating and chanting, practicing Galdor and Seither magic. We dedicated each meeting to Freyja. We would eventually at several different locations over the next three years. When I showed Zoller the set of Runes I got with Blum's book he grabbed the blank rune and threw it out the window. Everyone laughed. We began by Zoller’s giving each member of the group a copy of Thorsson’s book The Futhark, A Handbook of Rune Magic. I felt a curious pull by the book when Zoller placed it in my hand. I took it home and devoured it.
Within the first year of our regular meetings, I discovered that I had certain psychic abilities. I had suspected this when I experienced a visit from my father earlier that year. This might not seem unusual, except he had been dead for seven years. He visited me in broad daylight and spoke to me, telling me that I would soon experience major changes in my life. I did not understand everything he told me at the time, but now looking back, I realize the significance of the things he told me. I realize that the years spent in futile politics were like the hero’s entering a dark realm in which the old self must die so that his soul could undergo a deep spiritual transformation — like Gandolf the Grey, who died in Moria only to be reborn as Gandolf the White. People who have had such experiences will understand.
The next four years were a time of great spiritual transformation for me. In 1985, the first year (the Summer of 1984 to Summer of 1985) of my participation in Zoller’s group, I experienced a terrible nightmare. On March 15th (the Ides of March) I dreamed I was devoured by a Great White Shark. I woke-up in the middle of the night screaming bloody murder. Shortly thereafter I experienced my first visitation by a deity. We had dedicated our meetings to Freyja because they took place on her day, Friday. While I was in a trance, Freyja appeared to me. She told me that I was her son, that Odin was calling me to follow him, and that eventually he would appear to me to ask directly if I would. She told me that if I answered his call, she would choose me to spend the afterlife with her in Sessrumnir. A month later I experienced another visitation while in a trance. This time I found myself before Odin. He asked me what my answer was to the question Freyja had relayed, and I said, “Yes.” He then impaled me on his spear, right through the solar plexus.
During the second year of my involvement with Zoller's group (Summer of 185 to Summer 1986) I was crossing Park Ave one night in March of 1986 when I was hit by a van and thrown 15 feet. Amazingly I got up and walked away from the accident with only a few scratches. Only later did I realize that it was March 15, exactly one year from the terrible dream I had with the shark. Omen? Perhaps. Zoller had discussed with s in our classes that when we are born each of us is assigned a Norn who governs our life, and that if we ever saw our Norn, it would be in the form of a terrible beast, and the vision would mean we were going to die. Was the shark in my dream my Norn? Was she telling me I was going to die? Did I survive the auto accident because I dedicated my life to Odin, and he prevented me from dying? Zoller did not think it was a coincident.
Finally I was visited by a third God: Balder. He did not appear while I was in a trance but in the middle of the night. I was sleeping and woke up because my bedroom was filled with light. I realized the light was emanating from the foot of my bed where I saw Balder standing there wrapped in a red funeral shroud. He told me that Odin spoke three Runes into his ear when he lay on his funeral pyre. They were Dagaz, Nauthiz, and Ansuz. He told me that when I understood the meaning of these three Runes, I would be ready to publicly work for the advancement of Germanic heathenism. It took me many years to realize the significance of the three Runes: DNA. Balder was letting me know that the Gods dwell within us — within our DNA, our genes, within every atom in our bodies —and they were only sleeping, waiting for us to awaken them. From these experiences I slowly began to understand the importance of Balder in relationship to the return of the Gods, their Life Force — Vril — and Germanic magic as an instrument to used to awaken them from their long slumber.
When Zoller’s group dissolved in 1988, I was not fully committed to Odin. I continued to study Germanic Myths and Lore and to practice Rune magic and Seither, but privately. For the next 16 years, I was actively involved in politics while secretly practicing Odinism. In 2000 I became sick and tired of politics and began devoting my full time to Odin. In May of 2004 I published my first book on Odinism, The Book of Balder Rising. That October I went to dinner with some old friends and told them of my book. Everyone was interested and wanted to learn more. We had our first meeting in November 2004, to discuss the possibility of holding regular classes on Germanic Myths and Germanic Magic. Our first formal meeting was held on December 21, 2004, on Yule. Soon we were meeting every two weeks. I now was conducting the very classes that Zoller held from 1984 to 1988. By the summer of 2005 everyone wanted to formalize the group. When we applied for official recognition from the state of New Jersey, we decided to call it The Church of Vrilology. The church grew rapidly but there were many bumps along the way. Eventually we felt that we should emphasize the importance of Balder and changed the name to the Folk Faith of Balder Rising.
TFFOBR has been in existence since Yule, 2004, informally and formally. It has undergone many transformations, but through it all we have remained true to our original purpose: to encourage the study of Germanic Myth and Germanic Magic and work towards the resurrection of the ancient Germanic Mystery School of Erulians that was destroyed when Charlemagne claimed suzerainty over Saxony and in 772 destroyed the Irminsul, and massacred the entire Erulian order. It would result in the decline and eventual fall of Germanic heathenism.
In 2013 I retired from my job and made plans to move out of New York. I had many visions then of the political chaos that would wreak havoc in America today and my visions were confirmed by Robert Zoller through astrology. Zoller, who died on January 24, 2020, was a world renowned astrologer. I remember his warning me in 2000 of an impending horrendous terrorist attack that would occur between August 15 and September 15, 2001 somewhere between Washington D.C. and Boston. He said the center would mostly be in New York City. A year later the Islamic terrorists hijacked flights from Boston to attack New York City and Washington D.C., with the center being the World Trade center in lower Manhattan. Zoller warned me in 2016 that he United Sates was in for a period of violent upheavals. His perdiction is coming true.
On retirement I decided to move to Pennsylvania, eventually purchasing a plot of 13.39 acres. I thought the number was significant 13 = 1 and 3, and 39 = 3 and 9. I pledged I would raise a Great Hall to Odin on the property, and immediately began construction. It has taken five years and the Great Hall is almost complete, but the cost was a great deal more than I anticipated and we have already spent $22,000. We still have a great deal to do, completing the inside and working on the landscape around it to make it presentable for Balder Rising and other heathen groups to use it. I and members of Balder Rising have donated a great deal of the money, but we have bills to pay for the work that has so far been done, and will need additional funds to complete the hall.
On the property is a large pond fed by a spring. In the center of the pond is a large rock that protrudes from the surface when the pond is filled. When the water levels go down, usually in the summer, the pond shrinks to one third its size and you can walk to the rock. The grass that is exposed then is the result of 40 years of silt. I hope to someday clear the pond of silt. The pond has been named Mimir's Spring, and I carved and painted the face of Mimir on the rock. We discovered a formation on the side of the rock that actually looks like an eye (the eye of Odin). It can only be seen when the water levels are down. We want to create a huge stone circle and an actual well where the water flows into the pond.
Every year I have a blot to Mimir at the pond: a ritualistic duplication of Odin's drinking from Mimir's Spring. Instead of plucking out an eye, throwing it into the pond, and then drinking from the water, I drink from a horn of mead, pour the rest into the pond, and then throw a quarter, symbolizing my eye, into the pond. I want to construct a site along the banks with a stone altar where people can take part in this ritual, asking Mimir to bestow on us the wisdom and knowledge of his spring.
The property includes a man-made well running into Mimir's Spring, and I want to turn it into Urd's Well where we can perform a ritual to the Norns. Another well is located by the river that borders the back of the property and flows down the long gorge that descends down to the river. I refer to this well as Hvergilmir. We want to fix this site up as well. We want to make Mimirheim available to all heathen groups in the area.

WHAT IS VRILOLOGY?
Vrilology is the practice of harnessing the Life Force that we share with the Gods, which we call Vril, through the practice of Seither and Galdor sciences. Vrilology is the lost science that was given to our most ancient ancestors by the Gods so that they could master the world they lived within, and transform themselves into a race of God-men, about 9,000 years ago. This civilization was located on the shores of the ancient Black Sea. It grew into the lost civilization of original Aryans, who were the ancestors of the Indo-Europeans. The Aryans misused this science and caused an ecological imbalance in the world climate. They lost most of the knowledge of Vrilology after their civilization was destroyed in a great flood, resulting from the melting of the ice caps and raising of the water levels of the oceans. This caused the land bridge between Europe and Asia Minor to collapse, and in turn caused the Black Sea to rise 300 feet and sweep away that lost civilization, which is remembered in our myths as both the Great Biblical Flood and the lost civilization of Atlantis.
WHAT DOES THE WORD VRILOLOGY MEAN?
It means “the science of Vril.” It is a collection of knowledge of how to harness the power of the Vril and use it to transform ourselves, our lives, and the world around us.
WHAT IS VRIL?
Vril is the life Force that fills the universe. Science has been aware for some time now that matter and energy make up only about 5 percent of the universe. The other 95 percentage of the universe is filled with some form of energy that science refers to by many different names, including Dark Matter or Dark Energy. This mysterious substance is an infinite power source that we call Vril. It is known by many other names including chi, eurlic energy, karma, fahot, feng shui, Rhea Kybele, ur, the Black Sun and many other names. The truth is that this is a universal force that can be harnessed on a personal level through meditation, visualization, and chanting, as well as harnessing it mechanically in what is known as free energy. It is this force that we share with the Gods, and the Gods use to hold the universe together in their struggle with the chaotic forces represented by the Giants.
IS VRIL A SOURCE OF FREE ENERGY?
Vril is what has been referred to as free energy. During the 20th Century, many have tried to discover how to harness this power for the benefit of mankind. Victor Schauberger, the Austria engineer learned to harness Vril and create anti-gravity, free energy machines. Nicola Tesla also worked on the means to harness Vril free energy. It is a source of power behind anti-gravity propulsion, and can be used to provide an endless source of free energy for all our needs.
WHAT DOES VRILOLOGY SAY ABOUT POLITICS?
The Folk Faith of Balder Rising is a non-political organization, divorced of all political aspirations or interests. The FFOBR does not advocate any political ideology. It does not consider itself to belong to any political movement. There are many individuals and groups declaring themselves Odinists, but which are actually covers for political movements of both the right and the left. We do not care what an individual’s political affiliations or beliefs are, just so long as they do not mix politics and religion. The FFOBR does not care if an individual belongs to the left or right, or in between. Any individual is welcomed to practice Vrilology, and are welcomed at our study groups, just so long as they check their politics at the door.
It is the object of FFOBR is to completely disavow all political affiliations. The FFOBR believes that the present world order is doomed. It does not seek to acquire political power, nor does it challenge the present political establishment for political power. Vrilology hopes to empower as many people as possible within Western Civilization so that they can not only survive the coming collapse, but thrive and prosper even during the worst of times. The FFOBR is interested in assisting individuals of European ancestry to discover their true spiritual roots, but is also willing to assist individuals of other traditions to learn about Vrilology if it will help them to connect with their own ancestral roots.
If the FFOBR has any political leanings, it is simply its support for the freedom for all individuals to worship as they wish, without interference by government powers, so long as the religion does not advocate harm or hatred toward others.
IS VRILOLOGY A COVER FOR NAZISM?
No! The FFOBR considers National Socialism to be a political movement that pitted half the European Folk against the other half of the European Folk, seeking to either enslave or exterminate them. Though one can make the argument that there was much good in the beginning of National Socialism, in so far as it provided social welfare for the German people, and restored economic vitality and social order, it was spiritually corrupted by Dark Forces and eventually sought to conquer and enslave the peoples of Eastern Europe. Vrilology seeks to enslave no one, either of the European Folk or members of other Folks, races, nationalities or religions. National Socialism was tainted by German nationalism, racial “Nordicism” and racial “Germanicism.” This led them to despise and look down on other Europeans, especially their Slavic, Latin, and Greek brothers and sisters.
National Socialism did incorporate some elements of Germanic paganism into its imagery, and used Runes extensively in its symbolic displays. But National Socialism used the Armanen Runes, which was a 20th Century construct by German occultists based on the 18 standards of the Havamal (The Sayings of Har). The Havamal, along with the rest of Norse Lore, was written down from the oral tradition by Christian scholars, centuries after Northern Europe had converted to Christianity, and thus most of the Northern Lore has been lost. This is why there are only 18 Runic spells recited in the Havamal, instead of one for each of the twenty-four runes of the Elder Futhark. In the Twentieth Century, German occultists attempted to create a modern-day Runic system based on these eighteen verses, and thus created a corrupt spiritual system that eventually led Nationalism Socialism down a dark path and contributed to its own destruction.
IS VRILOLOGY ASATRU?
Asatru is a modern creation used to refer to those who have sought to return to the old religion that was worshiped in Northern Europe before the arrival of Christianity. Asatru means “those who worship the Aesir.” In so far as this is the description of individuals who venerate the Norse Gods, then we would be classified as Asatru. But we venerate not just the Aesir, but the Vanir as well. Vrilology is also forward looking in that it seeks to create new Heathen Folk Communities guided Erulians who have re-created the lost Germanic Mystery School composed of men and women practicing Vrilology as a way of life.
WHY DO WE USE ONLY THE ELDER FUTHARK?
Simply put--the Elder Futhark is the oldest, purest form of runic system, created by Odin, given to his children in Midgard and passed down to us from our ancestors. It has its roots in the most ancient traditions that can be traced back through prehistory to the lost Aryan civilization that once existed on the shores of the Black Sea, which is the origin of the Atlantis legend. Other runic systems exist and we do research them, but they fall far short of the effectiveness of the Elder Futhark in harnessing Vril and using it to manifest changes in our lives and the world we live in.
The Anglo-Saxon Futhark actually includes the Elder Futhark, but additional Runes were added to accommodate phonetic changes that were taking place within the Anglo-Saxon language as it evolved into English. These additional Runes really have no Vrilic energies associated with them since they are artificial constructs.
The Younger Futhark has only sixteen Runes. This Futhark was used centuries after Northern Europe converted to Christianity. Northern Lore was basically an oral tradition and never written down during pagan times. It was only later written down by Christian scholars in an attempt to preserve something of their native culture. But by then, much of the oral lore was lost. Even today, we recognize that what we work with is only a small portion of the myths and lore that was once studied by the pagan scholars of Northern Europe. People who still used Runes during Christian times had forgotten the other eight, missing Runes, and thus the Younger Futhark was created.
The loss of ancient lore can be seen in the eighteen runic spells written down in the Havamal. Memory of the other six, missing Runes was lost and thus not included. This eventually gave rise to the eighteen Runes used by Die Armenenschaft der Ario-Germanen (The Armanism of the Aryo-Germanic People). These Runes are known today as the Armanen Futhark and it was created by the German mystic, Guido Karl Anton List, better known as Guido von List, in Vienna, in 1908. This Futhark is a modern, artificial construct, based on the eighteen runic verses and was later used by the National Socialists in Germany. This corrupted spiritualism empowered the rise of the extreme racism within National Socialism known as “Nordicism” (the belief of a Nordic, blond race separate from and superior to the rest of the White race, as well as all mankind). This spiritualism eventually led to National Socialist policies of mistreatment, enslavement and even extermination of many eastern European peoples. Combined with German nationalism of the times, it led to the belief that Slavs are an inferior race, and everyone who did not possess blond hair and blue eyes were racially corrupt or inferior.
The FFOBR studies and researches the various runic systems, but we prefer to restrict our teachings and practices to the Elder Futhark.
WHO ARE THE ANCIENT ARYANS?
The Aryans are the original people from whom all Indo-Europeans are descended. This civilization was located on the shores of the ancient Black Sea. It grew into an advanced civilization by using the technology of Vril, given to them by the Gods. The Aryans misused this science and caused an ecological imbalance in the world climate. This caused the land bridge between Europe and Asia Minor, to collapse, resulting in the Black Sea water levels rising 300 feet and sweeping away that lost civilization. This lost civilization is remembered today in our myths as both the Great Biblical flood and the lost civilization of Atlantis. Those who survived became refugees, scattered across the Eur-Asian continent. These refugees lost most of their knowledge of Vrilology after their civilization was destroyed by this terrible flood.
After their civilization was destroyed, those who survived became refugees who migrated east, into China; southeast, into Iran, Central Asia and India; south, into the Middle East and even into Egypt; and west, into Europe and the Mediterranean. They brought with them bits and pieces of their near-forgotten technology. These refugees appeared as God-like to those they settled among. In many places they were worshiped and are remembered as Gods who descended to earth, giving them superior science and religion. This is true in the legends of the Sumerians, the Egyptians, the Mayans, the ancient Hebrews, in India, China, and in many other lands.
WHAT IS MEANT BY “BALDER RISING?”
Vrilology is used by the Folk Faith of Balder Rising to re-forge the lost links our ancestors once shared with the Gods who created them. Through Vrilology, we are able to re-establish the bond between ourselves and the Gods. This process is done through the combined use of Galdor and Seither sciences. By properly applying the methodology of Vrilology, we are able to develop the powers of our minds and open what is known as the “Third Eye.” This gland is known in Vrilology as the Bifrost Gland. Once opened, it acts as a rainbow bridge between us (Midgard) and the Gods (Asgard). Once this condition has been established, we can properly align ourselves with the Gods, and thus draw on their powers to transform ourselves into Vril Beings, or Perfected Human Being as symbolized by the Mannaz Rune, and cause transformations in the world around us.
Once this state of being has been achieved, the Gods, who dwell within us, have been awakened. This allows us to align ourselves with them, drawing on their powers. This is what is meant by Balder Rising. It is the awakening of the Gods within us.
Odin provided for this possibility. He provided the means by which we can awaken the Gods within us. This was done through the death of his most beloved son, Balder, who survived Ragnarok, by dwelling in Hel. The practice of Vrilology is, in effect, calling Balder back from the Netherworld. His resurrection within us manifests itself in the creation of a state of being known as the Golden Age of Gimli. Thus, Gimli is a state of being, and not some prediction of a new Golden Age on Earth at “the end of times.”

Erulians applying their knowledge to help the human life wave move to its true destiny in a field
of your choosing.

The Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI) is a system to measure and describe
thinking preferences in people, developed by William "Ned" Herrmann while leading
management education at General Electric's Crotonville facility. It is a type of cognitive style
measurement and model, and is often compared to psychological assessments such as the Myers-
Briggs Type Indicator, Learning Orientation Questionnaire, DISC assessment, and others.
In his brain dominance model, Herrmann identifies four different modes of thinking:
A. Analytical thinking
Key words: logical, factual, critical, technical, quantitative.
Preferred activities: collecting data, analysis, understanding how things work, judging ideas
based on facts, criteria and logical reasoning.
B. Sequential thinking
Key words: safekeeping, structured, organized, complexity or detailed, planned.
Preferred activities: following directions, detail-oriented work, step-by-step problem solving,
organization, implementation.
C. Interpersonal thinking
Key words: kinesthetic, emotional, spiritual, sensory, feeling.
Preferred activities: listening to and expressing ideas, looking for personal meaning, sensory
input, group interaction.

documented specializations in the brain''s cerebral cortex and limbic systems, and the research
into left-right brain lateralization by Roger Wolcott Sperry, Robert Ornstein, Henry Mintzberg,
and Michael Gazzaniga. These theories were further developed to reflect a metaphor for how
individuals think and learn.
Herrmann also coined the concept Whole Brain Thinking as a description of flexibility in using
thinking styles that one may cultivate in individuals or in organizations allowing the situational
use of all four styles of thinking.
The Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument
The format of the instrument is a 116-question online assessment, which determines the degree
of preference for each of the model's four styles of thinking. More than one style may be
dominant (or a primary preference) at once in this model. For example, in Herrmann's
presentation a person may have strong preferences in both analytical and sequential styles of
thinking but lesser preferences in interpersonal or imaginative modes, though he asserts all
people use all styles to varying degrees.
A 1985 dissertation by C. Bunderson, currently CEO of the non-profit EduMetrics Institute
asserts that "four stable, discrete clusters of preference exist ... scores derived from the
instrument are valid indicators of the four clusters", and "The scores permit valid inferences
about a person's preferences and avoidances for each of these clusters of mental activity".
Robert Blumetti took the Herrmann Dominance test in 1990, Blumetti’s chart an excessively
high degree of psychic abilities. The moderator said that she never saw anyone with both
sections of the right brain actually going off the chart, beyond 100%.
